Santa Cruz district

After the cathedral we meandered around the old Jewish quarter. Pepe, our guide, brought the place to life with a mixture of history and legends.

After our guided tour students were given free time to enjoy some well earned R and R when much ice cram was consumed! Some found great bargains in the sales.

Another long day but as ever the group behaved impeccably and is a pleasure to be with.

Day 2 the cathedral

The visit to the cathedral: after lunch we were greeted by our guide Alicia whose soothing, calm voice along with clear explanations gave us a flavour of what this amazing space has on offer. It is the biggest gothic cathedral in the world and the third largest after the Vatican et saint Pauls’ in London. The true remains of Christopher Columbus are to be found there, all 150 grams of him !🧐

After an early start we were on our way! Except for the inevitable airport setbacks: belt on luggage check in not working it all went rather smoothly. A little delay due to foggy conditions did not deter the enthusiasm to get to Seville where the very decent 24 degrees Celsius awaiting us made for a most pleasant experience. Lunch then the shopping task took our students through the streets of Seville to find the Spanish for certain words and ask for information. The shadowers ( private joke) and the flamenco frogs took to it with gusto. We visited the “setas” at dusk to appreciate the views of the old quarter of Seville through the light changes. Trip to a tapas restaurant in the Almeda district where our students ate in a very local restaurant. By then we were all flagging and beds were calling us to dream of the next day .0l
